In reality, hounds are no more vocal than other breeds. hounds have a distinctive bay when they "talk". But most hounds are not very barky and many are downright quiet. Homeward Trails has placed many many hounds in apartments, condo and townhouses successfully.

Indeed hounds were breed to follow the scent of animals for hunters and some individuals have a strong prey drive. But most hounds are happy to share their home with cats and other small animals in harmony and peace.

It is very rare to run across a hound who doesn't learn to enjoy the pleasures of urban life. A hound will very happily throw over a life of sleeping on the ground for the comfy plush of a sofa or dog bed. A hound is happy to walk with you on a leash.
