Nate, big bundle of sweetness and love

Nate is a big bundle of sweetness and love. He is a 5 yr old, 65-70 lb treeing walker coonhound who is gentle with everyone he meets.

He loves to be pet and has a happy, easy going disposition.
Nate came to one of the rural shelters Homeward Trails helps as a stray and the staff immediately fell in love with his calm and as they put it "totally awesome personality". We can't disagree. He is the perfect low maintenance dog. Nate has a very happy-go-lucky personality and loves people of all ages. Since hes very easy-going, Nate also gets along well with dogs and cats - he even ignores the caged cockatiel in his foster home!
He is such a mannerly dog that he goes to the door to let you know when he needs to go outside. Nate comes when called with a whistle! He does fine in his crate and walks well on the leash.

Nate has been diagnosed with heartworms. While this is curable, it is expensive to treat. Please make a tax deductible donation for his heartworm treatment costs by clicking here.

Did you know that Hounds are one of the most overlooked breeds in shelters? Thousands are discarded by irresponsible hunters every year and most are euthanized in shelters immediately for no good reasons.

We at HT want to promote these great dogs and all the great things they can bring to your family. From now until August 31st, if you adopt a Hound through Homeward Trails, you will not only get a wonderful, loving family member, you will also get:
