Jacob, sweet Bluetick Coonhound

Jacob is a handsome 1 yr old bluetick coonhound. Jacob came from a WV shelter. The fast paced urban life is a little bit different from what he is used to. Some of the sights and sounds can be a little scary for Jacob. Hes needs a person or family who can help him feel more comfortable in new situations. Jacob gets along with most dogs, especially those who like to play. However, he's is too much for most cats to handle.

This is an energetic boy who likes a lot of exercise and the outdoors. If you're looking for a companion on long runs or hikes, Jacob might be your guy!! With his long legs and athletic build, Jacob can keep up with the best of 'em. However, since he is a Hound, he will follow his nose. Jacob must ALWAYS be on a leash in an area that isn't fenced. Once he catches a tantalizing smell, he will follow the scent for miles.

Please remember that Hounds don't follow their own scent. So, if Jacob gets lost in an unfamiliar area, he will be unable to find his way home.

Jacob is really smart. He is a perfect candidate for training because he is very food-motivated. Since he loves treats, teaching him how to do things like sit, stay, and spin is easy!
Like some Hounds, Jacob is very proud of his singing voice. However, neighbors are not always impressed with Jacobs choice of songs. So, it would be best for Jacob if his new person or family lives in a house instead of apartment.

He needs to find a foster or adopter ASAP because he is very unhappy in the shelter.

Please help us give Jacob a new life by giving him a place to live. Jacob will repay by being your running partner, personal bedhog, and trusted friend!

Did you know that Hounds are one of the most overlooked breeds in shelters? Thousands are discarded by irresponsible hunters every year and most are euthanized in shelters immediately for no good reasons.
